The Medical Director of CPEH, Dr. Narayan Bardoloi is one of most renowned ophthalmologist in the North Eastern Region. Dr. Bardoloi introduced Phacoemulsification surgery in Jorhat way back in 1996 and the first one in Assam to present a paper on Phacoemulsification entitled “Chopping in the learning stage of phacoemulsification” at Asia Pacific IOL and refractive conference held at New Delhi in 1997 and ASOS conference at Guwahati in 1998. Trained by Dr. A.R. Vasavada, Dr. Bardoloi is also the first man to start the phacoemulsification under topical anesthesia in Assam. He has so far presented 24 papers in National conferences, 32 in State conferences and one in International conference. Besides cataract, cornea and glaucoma are other specialties that Dr. Bardoloi professes. He is the medical director of Jeuti Eye Bank, Jorhat and is mainly instrumental in initiating eye donation moment in Assam. Dr. Prasanta Saikia, the next senior consultant, is an accomplished VR surgeon. Dr Saikia did his VR fellowship from famous Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. The third ophthalmic consultant is Dr. (Mrs.) Shilpi Saikia who is an oculoplastic surgeon trained at LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. Dr. Jyotirmoy Barukial, the anesthetic consultant takes care of the operating patients. All the consultants work full time at CPEH.

Excellent Support Stuff

The paramedical staff at CPEH comprises of a devoted team of vision technicians,  ophthalmic nurses ,biomedical technician,OT technicians and laboratory technicians who contribute greatly to the efforts of the experts. All support staff are trained at LVPEI Hyderabad.
